Beginning your college career is an exciting time filled with many new experiences and transitions. UNH Manchester students, faculty and staff are committed to help first year students join in the academic and student life of our college community. We hope you will take advantage of all the resources and co-curricular opportunities available. We want to help you achieve your goals and graduate from UNH.
The First Year Experience Program is designed to support your transition and adjustment to the college life and university-level academic work. Beginning with orientation, the First Year Experience program is a year-long series of activities including workshops, student activities, research opportunities, and community dialogs where you will:
- Learn how to get involved in the life of the college, make friends and develop support systems to assure your success in your college career while you build a sense of community and connectedness to UNH Manchester and University;
- Learn how to balance your freedom with a sense of responsibility and make informed choices by developing a set of adaptive study, coping, critical thinking, logical problem-solving, and success skills;
- Learn about the teaching/learning process and understand and adapt to professors' teaching and presentation styles;
- Learn how to access UNH Manchester's resources including the Center for Academic Enrichment, Library, Academic Counseling and Career services, Financial Aid services, Internship Program; Disabilities Services, Information Technology Services; Student Government and student activities;
- Become part of a vibrant learning community grounded in respect for diversity and tolerance, enhanced by community service and service-learning opportunities and a spirit of inquiry and intellectual curiosity.
