College Transition Program
The College Transition Program (CTP) is a gateway to college for those who need to strengthen their academic skills before entering a degree program. Many of UNH Manchester's most successful students began their academic careers in the CTP program where they learned the skills necessary to succeed in college.
During this yearlong (two semester) intensive program, CTP students are candidates for the Associate in Arts degree. In addition to coursework, they get academic support and enhance their study skills. Students who successfully complete two semesters of CTP may continue to earn their associate degree through either full-time or part-time study.
Students become eligible for the CTP program during the standard admission application review process. Most often, CTP students register for credit courses on a part-time basis (fewer than twelve credits). In some instances CTP students may be required to supplement their academic program with noncredit coursework to strengthen writing or quantitative skills that are essential to college success.
Students attend the New Student Orientation and meet individually with an academic advisor to design an appropriate academic plan and together they establish performance goals. In addition to registering for courses the student will register for the Academic Skills/Knowledge (ASK) Lab.
CTP students meet regularly with their academic advisors. Advisors provide CTP students with an on-going orientation to UNH Manchester and help students to monitor their academic progress.
