Mihaela Sabin

Program Coordinator and Associate Professor

Science & Technology Division, Computer Information Systems Program

Mihaela Sabin joined UNH Manchester in the fall of 2007. She has a Ph.D. in Computer Science and M.S.T. in College Teaching from UNH, and M.S. in Computer Science from “Politehnica” University of Bucharest, Romania. This academic year she teaches database design and development, business application implementation with database management systems, networking concepts, system analysis and design, and the major’s internship course. Her prior teaching experience includes software development, object-oriented design, C++ and Java programming, data structures, and algorithms. Central to her philosophy of teaching is partnering with her students in the always exciting endeavor of learning about computing and its applications. She stimulates her students to inquire and engages them to experience first hand how a computing problem transforms into a well designed and professionally implemented project. Her students learn to work in teams and communicate project results with clarity and precision to both fellow professionals and the larger community.

Mihaela Sabin has previously worked at Rivier College, where she directed the computer science programs and coordinated the mathematics and computer science department. Outside academia, she has over ten years of experience in computing research and industry.

Her current research is on the application of constraint satisfaction problem modeling and solving to network diagnosis and product configuration. She is also involved in educational research in computer science and information technology. Her most recent interests are in outreach scholarship. Mihaela Sabin has numerous journal and conference papers. Her service to the computing discipline includes chairing conference sessions and workshops, organizing and participating in panel presentations, reviewing journal and conference papers, and participating in academic program evaluations. She has designed and supervised service learning projects and developed partnerships with local community agencies and private business and industry organizations to sponsor student internships.
