When Can I Graduate?
There are three graduations every academic year for graduate students: September (referred to as Summer YEAR), December (Fall YEAR), and May (Spring YEAR). For example if you are graduating in December of 2008 you would be graduating in the Fall of 2008.
The annual commencement ceremony is held in May. Students who have completed their degree requirements in the preceding September and December are invited to participate in commencement ceremonies in May. Students must complete at least at least half of their courses at the Manchester campus to participate in the UNH Manchester commencement ceremony.
Master's and C.A.G.S. students who expect to complete their degree program in May, as well as those who expect to complete their programs at the end of the summer term following the commencement ceremony (September), are eligible to participate in May commencement. Students who file their intent-to-graduate form for either May or September by the deadline for filing for May will be listed in the commencement program.
What Do I Need To Do And How Do I File My Intent To Graduate?
Anyone who thinks they are ready to graduate needs to file an intent-to-graduate, online, at the beginning of the semester you expect to graduate in. You can file online at MyUNH. Login to your Blackboard/MyUNH account, and go to the Webcat/Student Services tab, then click the "continue" button to get into Webcat and then click on the "Student Services & Financial Aid" link. On the page that loads select the "Graduation Application Menu" and that will let you submit your intent and update your diploma mailing address. Be sure to select the correct term for graduation and please provide your most current diploma mailing address. More information is available on the graduate school website.
How do I Register to Walk in Commencement
Students who wish to participate in the commencement ceremony must complete a commencement participation form and submit a $30.00 fee to the UNH Manchester Registration Office by Friday, April 24th without a late fee, or by May 8th with a $50 late fee. Students who file their commencement participation form after April 24th are not guaranteed guest seating tickets.
Guest Tickets
Guests will be required to present a complimentary ticket for seating. Guests who do not have tickets are welcomed to stand. Students who filed a commencement participation form by April 24th are eligible to receive up to five guest tickets for the ceremony. Tickets must be picked up by April 24th at the Registration Office after which they will be returned in the general ticket pool. Depending on availability, three additional tickets per student may be available the week of May 11th on a first come, first serve basis.
Where do I Purchase a Cap & Gown?
Graduate students are responsible for ordering their cap, gown and hood by April 8 from University Cap & Gown. The items purchased will be mailed to your home address. Please complete the academic regalia order form, and return it to University Cap & Gown. Contact the Graduate Center if you have questions, 603-641-4313. Note: Graduate students do not receive a numeric charm on their tassels.
Diplomas
Bachelor and Master Degree candidates receive an empty diploma cover during the ceremony. Actual diplomas are mailed, pending verification of transcripts, ten weeks later. Please contact the Registrar's Office in Durham with any questions, 603-862-1500.
