Self-Assessment
Who are you? What do you have to offer?
Self-assessment is one of the steps in the career development process that requires job seekers to examine interests, values and preferences in their personal life as well as work environment. Another important component to self-assessment is skills identification. The purpose is to identify skills, relate them to skill clusters and determine transferable skills required on the job. These are both interpersonal skills and work content skills. By taking the Jackson Vocational Interest Survey (JVIS), you will assess skills, values, personality and interests. Contact Academic Counseling at 641-4170 for a PIN number to access JVIS.
Are you undecided about a major?
The Major/Minor Finder is a paper and pencil assessment that helps you identify the academic fields of study in which you have the most interest and to develop an educational plan to explore your desired work environments.
Need help identifying your interests, skills and values?
The Self-Directed Search is a comprehensive career exploration tool requiring you to respond to questions about your aspirations, preferred activities, competencies, abilities and career clusters to discover occupations that fit your self-reported interest.
