Taking Care of Self and Community

A University Dialogue on Health

Manchester, NH – The University of New Hampshire’s upcoming lecture and film series, “Taking care of self and community; a university dialogue on health,” is both timely and provocative. The United States is a wealthy nation. With all of our resources, technology, and wealth many assume that we share the best overall individual health and health care system of any other place on earth. Yet, this is not the case. As a nation, we struggle with health care policies that are not working and are burdened by health care costs that continue to rise while at the same time demonstrating no measurable advantages.

Throughout the year, the University of New Hampshire campuses in Manchester and Durham will offer opportunities to learn about health. The series, which will be offered during the 2009/2010 academic year, will include movies and discussion events, and opportunities to participate in health-related topics. The community is invited to engage in free events and think about how we each live our lives forward as healthy human beings.

Public events offered this fall at the Manchester campus are listed below. Contact Carolyn Gamtso for more information, 641-4172 or Carolyn.Gamtso@unh.edu. For a list of events in Durham, please visit http://www.unh.edu/academic-affairs/discovery/dialogue/2009/events.html.
